Practices will start Jan 1st and go through Mid March. Tue & Thur - 5:30pm-7pm trainer sessions at Jim's house Practices will generally be held Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30-7pm and Saturday at 1pm. Tue/Thur practice will be held at Jim's house on trainers. We will empasize interval work focusing on strength/force, leg speed and some threshold work. These sessions will include warm up, focused drills from 15 seconds to several minutes with frequent change-ups. You won't get bored. We will be in a covered metal out building, so bring warm clothes you can peel off as you heat up, then put back on as soon as we stop. If you have a trainer or rollers, please bring it. You may leave it at Jim's house if you wish. Bring water bottles and a snack while riding. Please make sure your bike is in good working order. Saturday practices will start at 1pm, and will generally last 2-3 hrs. We will ride routes from Corvallis focusing on various skill and strength/endurance development. These rides will require adequate clothing and preparation, which we will cover well before we head out on our first ride. We will work on handling drills, riding in close proximity, general skills (like looking back, drinking and eating while on the bike, riding no hands, etc). We will also review the rules of the road, how to ride safely in different conditions, to be aware, to stop fast and how to ride safely in a pack. Once these basic skills have been covered and you are prepared for the weather, the terrain and the other aspects of road riding, we will then move all the weekend rides out onto the open road. |
